On Tuesday, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) repeatedly cautioned Green (D-Texas) to refrain from interrupting the 47th president.
“Members are instructed to maintain decorum in the House and to halt any further disruptions. That is your warning,” Johnson stated from the front of the chamber.
“Members are engaging in a persistent and willful breach of decorum, and the chair is ready to instruct the sergeant at arms to restore order to the joint session,” Johnson added.
“Mr. Green, please take your seat,” Johnson warned Green. “Take your seat, sir.”
Following this, Johnson directed the Sergeant At Arms to remove the Democrat from the chamber in an effort to restore order.
Green stood, waving his cane, and shouted, “You don’t have a mandate!” In response, Republicans erupted from their seats, chanting “USA” to drown him out.
As guards began to escort Green out, House Republicans sang “hey, hey, hey, goodbye.”
Upon returning to office, Green has called for Trump’s impeachment.
This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
