Democrat Representative Cuellar Maintains Innocence Despite Indictment Reports

U.S. Representative Henry Cuellar, D-Texas, denied allegations against him and his wife Imelda amidst reports of a pending indictment on Friday.

“I want to make it clear that both my wife and I are innocent of these allegations,” Cuellar stated.

Cuellar did not directly address the possibility of an impending indictment or provide details about the specific allegations. The Justice Department did not respond immediately to requests for comments.

“Before taking any action, I consulted with the House Ethics Committee and received multiple written opinions, including one from a national law firm,” Cuellar explained in his statement.

Cuellar also mentioned that he had attempted to arrange a meeting with federal prosecutors in Washington, D.C. to discuss the investigation, but they declined to engage and hear their side of the story.
