Democrat Representative Himes: Hunter Violated the Law, Must Face Consequences
In an unexpected move, Democratic Representative Jim Himes admitted that Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, “broke the law” and “should be prosecuted.” Himes made these comments in an interview with MSNBC. This comes after a plea deal between Hunter Biden’s lawyers and the U.S. Attorney in Delaware fell through in court. The judge in the case, Maryellen Noreika, reportedly questioned the deal, particularly the allowance for Hunter Biden to plead guilty to misdemeanor tax crimes while receiving a diversion program for an alleged gun felony. Himes believes that Hunter Biden should be held accountable for breaking the law, both in terms of taxes and potentially the ownership of a handgun. He also acknowledged that investigations into Hunter Biden’s alleged foreign influence peddling should proceed and that if he traded on his father’s influence, he should be held responsible. Himes pointed out the contrast between Democrats holding their own accountable while Republicans did not do the same for former President Donald Trump or his family. It is worth noting that Trump was not accused of bribery or facing charges like a felony gun charge or tax crimes.
