Democratic Strategist Criticizes Biden White House for Being ‘Tone Deaf’

A high-ranking Democrat strategist has warned that President Joe Biden’s team’s refusal to heed the advice of seasoned party insiders may jeopardize Biden’s chances of winning the White House in November.

Doug Schoen, a pollster and adviser to former President Bill Clinton, emphasized the importance of seeking guidance from veteran party strategists for Biden’s reelection campaign.

“The White House is showing a striking lack of awareness and is not open to receiving advice from not only me but also two other Democratic insiders who have worked on successful campaigns in the past, such as those with the Obama and Clinton administrations,” Schoen stated during an appearance on Fox News.

“There appears to be a complete exclusion of external advice to the detriment of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.”

According to a report from The Wall Street Journal, concerned Democrats are urging Biden to demonstrate more empathy towards the issue of inflation, as voters are dismissing his positive comments about the economy.

Recently, David Axelrod, a longtime strategist and senior adviser to former President Barack Obama, criticized Biden’s economic messaging, suggesting that he should prioritize “empathy” for those who are not benefitting from the supposedly strong economy he continues to emphasize.

Axelrod argued that it is a “serious mistake” for Biden to overlook the current economic reality.

“The economy is not being experienced in the way he portrays it,” Axelrod stated on CNN. “People are feeling the impact of the rising cost of living. He is a leader known for his empathy, so why not lead with that?”

Schoen echoed Axelrod’s sentiment.

“In an election where inflation is as high as it is, and people are struggling with rising prices in essential goods, this will significantly influence and ultimately determine the outcome, unlike previous elections,” Schoen stated, as reported by the Washington Examiner.

Schoen also pointed out the need for Biden to revise his messaging on various issues.

“There is a lack of messaging on inflation and the southern border. Their focus seems to be on attacking Donald Trump and boasting about their past achievements,” Schoen remarked. “However, all polls indicate that this approach is not resonating with voters.”

Despite his critique, Schoen believes that there is still a chance for Biden to win the election.

“He must exhibit more empathy towards economic concerns and inflation, take action on the southern border, and develop an agenda that is responsive to people’s needs and worries, rather than the current messaging,” Schoen advised during his appearance on Fox News.
