Democrats Embrace Hunter’s Guilty Verdict: ‘No One is Exempt from the Law’

Many Democrats celebrated the guilty verdict against Hunter Biden, echoing the sentiment that “Nobody is above the law,” similar to reactions seen after Donald Trump’s conviction.

A jury in Delaware found Biden guilty on three felony counts related to illegal firearm purchase and possession. Despite facing a potential prison sentence of up to 25 years, legal experts believe he may not serve any time behind bars. Hunter Biden is the first child of a sitting president to be convicted of a crime.

Democratic lawmakers like Rep. Greg Landsman of Ohio and Rep. Becca Balint of Vermont highlighted the importance of holding individuals accountable under the law, regardless of their political affiliations. Meanwhile, Republican Rep. Matt Gaetz expressed skepticism towards the gun conviction, suggesting it was a distraction from other alleged wrongdoing by Biden.

Republicans view the gun conviction as a cover-up for Hunter Biden’s other alleged crimes, particularly accusations of leveraging his father’s name and influence for financial gain from foreign entities. Despite these claims, Democrats like Gov. Jim McGovern of Massachusetts defended the verdict, emphasizing the impartiality of the justice system.

Hunter Biden is scheduled to face a federal tax evasion trial in early September.
