Democrats Promise to Stop Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Attempt to Remove Mike Johnson

Democratic House Leadership criticized Republican lawmakers and pledged to thwart Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s attempt to remove Speaker Mike Johnson.

Their remarks were expressed in a statement by Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries from New York, Minority Whip Katherine Clark from Massachusetts, and Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar from California.

“From the start of this Congress, House Democrats have prioritized people over politics and collaborated with traditional Republicans to achieve tangible outcomes,” they stated.

“For months, House Republicans delayed crucial security aid to our democratic allies in Ukraine, Israel, and the Indo-Pacific, while hindering humanitarian assistance to civilians in regions like Gaza, Haiti, and Sudan,” “With the leadership of President [Joe] Biden and a bipartisan coalition, we were finally able to address the national security concerns of the American people.

“House Democrats have consistently put people above politics and worked with traditional Republicans to deliver genuine results. Simultaneously, we have vigorously opposed MAGA extremism and will continue to do so.

“Now, after completing our national security efforts, it is time to move past this period of Pro-Putin Republican obstruction. We will vote to reject Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Motion to Vacate the Chair. Should she proceed with the motion, it will not be successful.”

Greene responded to the Democrats in a tweet.

“Every day, I fight against the Democrat agenda that is harming America and advocate for an America First Republican agenda,” she commented. “Mike Johnson has essentially become the Democrat Speaker of the House, endorsed by them. What backroom deal did Johnson make to gain Democratic support? He should resign, switch parties, and endorse Biden’s policies like open border immigration, endless wars, full-term abortion, transgender agenda for children, NSA spying on Americans, using government against Trump and his supporters, and every other Democrat priority he has complied with. If Democrats want him as Speaker (and some Republicans want to back their choice), I’m willing to give them that opportunity.”
