A recent report from the DOJ Inspector General has revealed that the Department of Justice utilized 26 confidential “sources” to assist the FBI during the events of January 6th in D.C.

These “confidential human sources” provide the FBI with valuable insights regarding groups that are perceived as threats to national security, including terrorist organizations, criminal enterprises, and espionage networks.

Out of the 26 sources hired by the FBI, 13 accessed restricted areas within the Capitol, with four entering the Capitol building itself. The fate of the remaining sources was not detailed in the report.

“None of the CHSs who entered the Capitol or a restricted area has been prosecuted to date,” noted the report.

Moreover, ABC News has indicated that over 1,265 defendants have been charged by federal prosecutors nationwide in the three years following January 6.

The investigation also uncovered that one source was aware of discussions regarding plans by the Proud Boys and maintained communication with leaders of anti-government groups such as the Oath Keepers.

Interestingly, the report stated there was “no evidence” to suggest that any FBI undercover agents were present among the crowd on Capitol Hill, despite earlier sections of the report discussing the 26 sources involved, including those who entered restricted areas and the Capitol itself.

“We found no evidence in the materials we reviewed or the testimony we received showing or suggesting that the FBI had undercover employees in the various protest crowds, or at the Capitol on January 6,” the report elaborated.

Reactions from social media users reflected a range of opinions.

“The DOJ is saying ‘Hey, we investigated ourselves and found no wrongdoing, even though we had individuals in direct contact with Proud Boys and Oath Keepers leaders during the Capitol incident.’ Give me a break!” one user commented on X.

“So, to clarify, they admit to having direct involvement with demonstrators and entering restricted Capitol areas but claim that no FBI agents were actually in the crowd? This makes no sense at all,” wrote another user on X.

Vice President-elect JD Vance also weighed in on the topic.

“For those keeping track, this was dismissed as a dangerous conspiracy theory months ago,” he emphasized.

The Inspector General’s investigation involved over 200 witness interviews and the review of more than 500,000 documents.

In an interview with TIME Magazine released on Thursday, President-elect Donald Trump expressed his commitment to pardoning many individuals charged and imprisoned in connection with the protests.

Democrat officials, such as Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (AOC), previously made misleading statements regarding the events surrounding the Capitol demonstration.

However, factcheck.org has clarified that such claims are misleading as they included instances of heart attacks resulting in the deaths of two Trump supporters, an accidental overdose of another Trump supporter the following day, and a shooting death, among other incidents.

The New York Times inaccurately reported that Officer Sicknick died after being struck by a fire extinguisher, a claim later retracted as medical examination indicated he passed away from strokes.
