Dershowitz Calls Trump NY Fraud Case ‘Justice Like Alice in Wonderland’ on Newsmax

Concerns have been raised by Alan Dershowitz, a professor emeritus at Harvard Law School, regarding Donald Trump’s $464 million civil fraud judgment bond. Dershowitz, in an interview with Newsmax on Tuesday, highlighted the risks associated with the bond, which could potentially prevent Trump from appealing and result in New York Attorney General Letitia James seizing his assets.

Speaking on “Eric Bolling The Balance,” Dershowitz expressed his concerns about the bond preventing Trump from appealing, stating that it may lead to a situation where punishment precedes the trial.

Trump still maintains the right to appeal, but Dershowitz fears that the high bond amount may limit this option as it needs to be posted in full by next week to prevent James from collecting while the appeal process is ongoing.

Despite efforts by Trump’s legal team to secure the bond, they have faced challenges in doing so, with the court filings indicating that obtaining the full bond amount has proven to be near impossible.

New York’s laws allow James to proceed with asset seizure if the 30-day automatic stay of the judgment expires on March 25, raising uncertainties about which of Trump’s assets may be targeted due to existing mortgages or debts on the properties.
