Dershowitz Tells Newsmax: Democrats Aimed for 3 Goals in Trump Trial
Legal expert Alan Dershowitz stated on Tuesday that Democrats had three objectives in the Manhattan criminal trial involving former President Donald Trump. Trump, who is expected to be the 2024 Republican presidential nominee, was accused of falsifying business records to conceal a payment to Stormy Daniels in exchange for her silence on an alleged affair.
Dershowitz, a retired professor from Harvard Law School, explained on “National Report” that the three goals of the trial were to convict Trump before the election, impose a gag order on him, and prevent him from campaigning. Despite the potential success of these goals, Dershowitz emphasized that this was blatant election interference and misuse of the legal system for partisan purposes.
During the trial, former Trump attorney Michael Cohen admitted to secretly recording Trump without his knowledge. Dershowitz criticized Cohen’s actions as unethical and a violation of professional responsibility. He also noted that Cohen’s testimony about the reason for recording Trump was questionable and likely to be disbelieved by the jury.
