Dershowitz Tells Newsmax: ‘Expect a Split Decision’ on Trump’s Immunity

The Harvard Law professor emeritus Alan Dershowitz told Newsmax that the Supreme Court is likely to deliver a “divided decision” regarding former President Donald Trump’s claims of immunity, balancing actions tied to his presidency against those motivated by politics.

Dershowitz predicts a split decision to address the lawsuit brought by special Jack Smith to challenge Trump’s defeat in the 2020 election. The case is currently on hold pending the court’s decision.

The Supreme Court is considering Trump’s immunity claims, which he argues are valid as he was still president during the events at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.

Dershowitz commended the Supreme Court for taking on the case, stating that the legal proceedings should not influence the upcoming election. He emphasized the importance of allowing the people, not prosecutors or judges, to determine the president.

Regarding criticism from liberals over the court’s decision, Dershowitz pointed out their hypocrisy and emphasized the need for a neutral approach to Supreme Court rulings.
