Dershowitz tells Newsmax: Hunter Biden and Trump verdicts are not equivalent
According to Alan Dershowitz, Harvard Law professor emeritus, the recent conviction of Hunter Biden on three felony federal firearms charges does not necessarily indicate that justice is blind in the United States, but rather it gives the appearance of it. Dershowitz made these comments in an interview with Newsmax on Tuesday.
Dershowitz pointed out the distinction between Biden’s conviction for a “real crime” and Donald Trump’s recent conviction, which he believes was based on a “made-up charge.” He emphasized that appointing a special prosecutor in Trump’s case was an attempt to create an illusion of fair justice, while in reality, there is a significant difference between the two cases.
In Dershowitz’s view, the charges against Biden and Trump would not have been pursued if their names were not involved. He suggested that Biden’s conviction for the firearms charges is a facade hiding larger crimes, such as profiting from using his father’s name and influence for personal gain.
Dershowitz criticized the plea bargain in Biden’s case, suggesting that it failed because it would have exposed the reasons behind Biden’s financial gains through his name. He also called for investigations into the money Biden received through leveraging his name for access to foreign adversaries.
