DeSantis Acknowledges Trump’s Loss in 2020 Election
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, a Republican, has stated that he does not believe the 2020 presidential election was stolen from former President Donald Trump. DeSantis believes that Joe Biden won the election and is currently the president. However, he does acknowledge flaws in the election process and believes that Republicans did not adequately fight back against these issues. He points to problems such as widespread availability of mail-in ballots during lockdowns and social media censorship of the New York Post’s story about Hunter Biden’s laptop. DeSantis recently told reporters that Trump’s claims about election fraud were not proven to be true. Despite his differing views on the election, DeSantis is trailing Trump by a wide margin in the race for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination. DeSantis also commented on Trump’s legal problems, stating that they are “not really about Donald Trump” and that a justice system is not fair if it is weaponized. He believes that the 2024 election should focus on Biden’s policies rather than Trump’s legal issues.
