DHL to Suspend Global Shipments Over $800 to the U.S. Due to New Customs Regulations – One America News Network

The international shipping company DHL has announced a temporary halt on shipments to the U.S. for items with a declared value surpassing $800.

Beginning Monday, shipments from foreign businesses to private customers in the U.S. with a declared value above $800 will not be collected or shipped by the company.
Before this new policy, formal customs entry was only necessary for shipments exceeding $2,500. The change is a response to new customs regulations that took effect on April 5th, which reduce the threshold for formal clearance and require more packages to undergo complex import processes.
DHL indicated that this situation has resulted in “multi-day transit delays,” prompting the temporary service suspension.
“This adjustment has led to an influx of formal customs clearances, which we are managing around the clock,” the notice mentioned.
According to DHL, the suspension applies only to business-to-consumer shipments and does not affect business-to-business shipments, although those could still encounter delays.
“As we work diligently to address this increase, shipments valued over $800 — from any origin — may experience multi-day delays,” stated the company.
All shipments valued at less than $800 will remain unaffected by this suspension, the company clarified.
Meanwhile, DHL has not indicated when services for shipments exceeding $800 will resume.
“This is a temporary measure, and we will provide updates as the situation changes,” DHL stated in its announcement.
