Dick Morris tells Newsmax: Trump is Winning Over Big Parts of Biden’s Voter Base
President Joe Biden delivered a divisive State of the Union speech, targeting his “predecessor,” former President Donald Trump. Presidential campaign adviser Dick Morris told Newsmax that Biden’s speech was more of a campaign address in response to Trump, who is eroding much of Biden’s support base.
Morris criticized Biden’s speech, stating, “It was a terrible speech. Its tone was awful. The State of the Union speech is an opportunity to lead the country, not divide it, and he missed it completely.”
Morris highlighted Biden’s declining support in the 2024 presidential campaign and suggested that the speech reflected a sense of desperation from the Biden camp.
According to Morris, Biden is losing significant portions of his core voters to Trump, with losses in the Black vote, Hispanic vote, and among young Gen Z voters. This erosion of support is causing damage to the Democratic Party’s base.
Despite Biden’s speech appealing to his loyal supporters, Morris believes it will not be enough to counter the growing support for Trump among the voters Biden is losing in this election cycle.
