During his Time Magazine “Person of the Year” interview, President-elect Donald Trump reflected on the unsuccessful election campaign of Vice President Kamala Harris, asserting that she never should have pursued the candidacy.

When asked about Harris’s major errors throughout her campaign, the 47th president-elect seized the moment to criticize her. “Taking the assignment. Number one, because you have to know what you’re good at,” Trump responded.

He criticized Harris for dodging interviews, showcasing her ineptitude, and reiterated that she shouldn’t have entered the race “because you have to know what you’re good at.”

“When she didn’t engage with the media, it highlighted her shortcomings,” Trump elaborated.

Following her nomination as the Democratic presidential candidate, Harris took over 100 days to hold her first press conference and nearly an entire month to agree to an interview, starting with a light, “softball” discussion alongside her running mate, Tim Walz, on CNN’s Dana Bash program.

“You know, she didn’t do much at all. And people were asking, ‘Is there something wrong with her?’ Why would they think that? I’m participating in this interview with you. I would engage with anyone who wanted to discuss things,” Trump continued.

In a recent media misstep from Harris’s campaign, her team made impractical demands before declining an invitation for Harris to appear on “The Joe Rogan Experience” (JRE) podcast, which is said to attract the highest viewership of any podcast worldwide.

Rogan elaborated on the initial proposal for a sit-down interview with Harris, revealing that her team insisted she would only participate if Rogan traveled to her, and that the interview would be limited to about an hour, which is unusual for a Rogan episode that typically lasts 2-3 hours. Trump himself sat for nearly three hours during his interview with Rogan.

Rogan also mentioned that Harris’s team had additional conditions concerning what topics could or could not be addressed in the potential interview, including her refusal to discuss “marijuana legalization, which I found amusing,” the podcaster remarked.

Rogan concluded that Harris must be a “bad [presidential] candidate” for her inability to express herself “off the cuff” and naturally.

“I can’t say if she’s effective at management since that would require insight into her behind-the-scenes actions, but in terms of speaking spontaneously, she seems to excel at delivering pre-written speeches from a teleprompter. Quite proficient,” Rogan commented.

Trump’s interview with Time coincides with his historic achievement of being named the magazine’s 2024 Person of the Year, following his survival of multiple assassination attempts and enduring political challenges.
