DOJ Accused of Hindering Justice by Requesting Archer Jail Date
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer has accused federal prosecutors of obstructing justice by requesting a date for former Hunter Biden partner Devon Archer to begin his prison sentence just days before his testimony on the business activities of Hunter Biden and President Joe Biden. Comer argues that this is another example of the Department of Justice being weaponized against political opponents. The federal prosecutors are requesting Archer to start serving his one-year sentence for his role in a bond scheme to defraud a Native American tribal entity of $60 million. Archer is expected to testify about his communications with foreign interests involving Hunter Biden and the former vice president. Comer believes that the timing of the request is suspicious and meant to intimidate Archer ahead of his testimony. Archer’s attorney, Matthew Schwartz, also sees it as an intimidation tactic but maintains that his client will still testify as planned. The accusation of obstruction of justice adds to the ongoing controversy surrounding Hunter Biden and his business dealings.
