Henyard, often labeled as “America’s worst mayor,” has faced allegations of corruption and poor management of public funds, with residents and state officials claiming she is using taxpayer money to support her extravagant lifestyle.
The viral video features Henyard and her boyfriend confronting Jedidiah Brown, a community activist who criticized her for being a “half a**ed mayor” and insinuated she “slept her way to the top.”
Brown cited an investigation by former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot into Henyard during his harsh remarks.
Lightfoot’s investigation reportedly revealed that Henyard orchestrated a “concerted, systematic effort” to conceal the Village of Dolton’s true financial situation from trustees and the public, resulting in the disappearance of hundreds of thousands of dollars in public funds.
“You’ve been a half a** mayor. If you wanted to earn some respect, you should have addressed Lori Lightfoot’s report regarding credit cards. You criticize them for not working, but we know what you’ve been doing while at work,” Brown said during the meeting.
“I’m giving away the rest of my time because, on behalf of the Black Cookout Association, we should vote to replace you with Stephanie as the new member. So those against it say ‘nay,’ and in favor say ‘aye.’ You’re out,” Brown concluded.
As Brown attempted to leave, Henyard’s boyfriend allegedly pursued him, sparking the confrontation.
“I’ve never seen a politician jump into a fight like that – it was terrifying and humiliating – a total embarrassment,” remarked Meghan Dudek, a witness at the meeting.
“It was one thing to see the men fighting, but when she leaped in, I was stunned. I couldn’t believe it,” witness Alicia Nichole told WLS-TV.
Furthermore, Brown and his associate, Levelle Redmond, who mentioned he was previously dismissed by Henyard, claimed that Brown did not start the altercation. Redmond stated he acted in self-defense as Henyard’s group was “closing in” on them.
Ultimately, Brown was removed from the scene, and the local police reported that no arrests were made following the tumultuous event.
