Donald Trump Jr. Criticizes Speaker for Border Security Reversal
Donald Trump Jr. criticized House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., on social media Thursday for moving forward with a foreign-aid package without including U.S. border security.
Trump shared a 56-second video montage of Johnson previously emphasizing border security measures in the U.S. before considering aid for Ukraine and Israel. In the video, set to the theme music of “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” Johnson mentions the word “border” 12 times.
Despite this, Johnson introduced a bill on Wednesday for $95.3 billion in foreign aid without including funding for border security.
“Enough already! If you ever start believing what Republican leadership is telling you, just watch this. Pay attention to those who are not bothered by this. They are not our allies,” Trump wrote along with his video.
This post was the culmination of several tweets by Trump in the last 24 hours. Johnson amended the aid bill to include $9 billion in “forgivable loans” to Ukraine, which President Joe Biden could forgive entirely in 2026.
“The Swamp thinks you’re stupid. They think every conservative in America will fall for their tricks!!!” Trump tweeted on Wednesday.
Also on Wednesday, Trump tweeted: “Chuck Schumer is boasting about how House GOP Leadership is caving in and giving Democrats what they want.”
Johnson was called to resign by Rep. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., on Monday, who promised support for a motion to remove Johnson, supported by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga.
Johnson refused to resign.
