Donald Trump Jr. tells Newsmax: My Father is ‘Determined to Win’

Former President Donald Trump was feeling “somber” after learning of the guilty verdict in his New York criminal trial, potentially facing jail time. However, he remains focused on winning the White House in November, according to Donald Trump Jr. in an interview with Newsmax on Friday.

Don Jr. appeared on “Wake Up America” the morning after his father became the first former president to be convicted of felony crimes as a jury found him guilty of falsifying business records in an attempt to influence the 2016 election through payments made to silence a porn actor who alleged they had a sexual encounter.

When asked about the former president’s state of mind following the verdict, Don Jr. shared, “Obviously, it’s a somber time for him, for our family, and frankly, for our country based on all of the nonsense that we saw.” He emphasized Trump’s determination to continue fighting against political persecution in the country.

Don Jr. expressed concerns about the possibility of Trump being sentenced to jail by Judge Juan Merchan, noting the timing of the sentencing hearing just before the Republican National Convention.

Regarding Trump’s potential imprisonment, Don Jr. stated, “Obviously, I imagine it’s something in the back of his mind, but he’s so focused on winning. He’s so focused on fixing our very broken system.”

He also discussed the need for a stronger stance within the Republican Party, advocating for candidates who prioritize an “America-first” approach and are willing to fight for the country’s values and future.
