Donald Trump tells Newsmax that he believes his conviction sets a “bad precedent”

Donald Trump, the Republican presumptive nominee, expressed his concern about the precedent set by his recent conviction during an interview with Newsmax on Tuesday. He discussed his decision not to pursue similar actions against Hillary Clinton in the past.

Appearing on “Greg Kelly Reports”, Trump addressed his conviction on 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in New York last week, calling it a “terrible precedent” for the country.

Reflecting on his choice as president-elect in 2016 not to appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Clinton’s deleted emails and private server, Trump emphasized the importance of avoiding a path that could lead to political vendettas and divisive actions.

He acknowledged the calls to “lock her up” and the pressure to pursue criminal charges against Clinton but ultimately decided against it to prevent setting a negative precedent for the country.

In discussing the current political climate, Trump warned about the dangerous road that could be taken if such actions are pursued against political opponents in the future.
