‘Enormously Risky’: Pompeo Criticizes Biden’s Energy Policies

Former CIA director and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo criticized President Joe Biden’s energy policies, stating that our adversaries are capitalizing on the opportunity to become energy producers for our allies. Pompeo sees this as an “enormously risky” situation for the United States.

In an interview with Breitbart at the American Energy Security Summit in Oklahoma City, Pompeo expressed his concerns. He spoke about the lack of trust our allies have in us to provide the energy products they need. Furthermore, our adversaries are taking advantage of this situation. Russia, for example, is selling crude oil to China above market prices because they have captured markets and are redirecting pipeline flows away from Europe. They are reducing their reliance on the United States as an energy producer.

Pompeo also highlighted a disconnect between how Americans view energy and the rest of the world. While Americans often associate energy with cars, the rest of the world focuses on basic needs such as powering homes, lighting, sanitation, and even food production with the help of energy.

Pompeo criticized the Biden administration’s push for electric vehicles, calling the substantial subsidies in the industry a “failed effort.” He pointed out that UAW workers are currently on strike because these vehicles are not being made in the United States but in China. He deemed demanding taxpayers to fund this transition without a clear technological solution as irrational, dangerous, and expensive.

The conference also featured speeches from former Attorney General Bill Barr, former Secretary of Transportation Elaine Chao, and GOP presidential hopeful Nikki Haley.
