Father of Hunter Trial: Trump Campaign Calls Trial a ‘Distraction’
The Trump campaign criticized the federal gun trial that resulted in Hunter Biden’s conviction on all three felony charges, calling it a distraction from the alleged activities of President Joe Biden and his family members.
“This trial has been nothing more than a distraction from the real crimes of the Biden Crime Family, which has raked in tens of millions of dollars from China, Russia, and Ukraine,” said Karoline Leavitt, the national press secretary for the Trump campaign.
Leavitt also stated that “Crooked Joe Biden’s reign over the Biden Family Criminal Empire is all coming to an end on November 5th, and never again will a Biden sell government access for personal profit.”
The charges against Hunter Biden are related to the purchase of a handgun in 2018. He was found guilty of lying on a form during the purchase, claiming he was neither addicted to drugs nor illegally using them.
The verdict was delivered in Wilmington, Delaware, following a three-hour deliberation by the jury over two days.
Hunter Biden still faces another trial in September, just two months before the general election in November, on charges of failing to pay $1.4 million in taxes. Republicans in Congress have indicated their intent to continue investigating him as part of their impeachment inquiry against his father.
