Father Pavone accuses CNN of supporting left-wing agenda

In a Tuesday interview on Newsmax’s “Rob Schmitt Tonight,” Father Frank Pavone, the national director of Priests for Life, responded to an on-air statement made by a priest on CNN claiming Jesus was a Palestinian, stating he was attempting to bolster left-wing viewpoints.

Father Pavone, countering this assertion, emphasized, “Nobody in Jesus’ time was calling themselves a Palestinian.” Jesus was a Jew; that was his ethnicity and his religion. He was also God. The lineage of Jesus is clear in the first chapter of Matthew’s Gospel, if Abraham’s son of David, and, uh, you know, this is what we see here. It’s obvious what he’s doing. He’s trying to back up left-wing talking points.”

A CNN priest had remarked on air, “The story of Christmas is about a Palestinian Jew. How often do you find those words put together by a Palestinian Jew born into a time when his country was occupied?”

Father Pavone continued, expressing concern about the potential confusion surrounding the modern history of Israel and the identity of the Palestinians. He accused the CNN priest of incorporating this confusion into the biblical narrative, describing it as a “misuse of religion.”

According to Father Pavone, the left often exploits religious figures to advance their political agenda, and he denounced this as a “cancer.”

“For those of us who know the faith and believe in their faith, you know, if you got to speak up in defense of the faith against these, uh, left-wing ideologues if you want to compare biblical teaching to modern-day politics, you know who’s going to come out on top is Republican and conservative policies,” asserted Father Pavone. He claimed that these policies align more closely with the actual scriptures compared to left-wing Democrat policies and politics.

“You know, the left is very good at doing that on all kinds of issues; they’ll misuse religion. They’ll drag out priests and other religious leaders to justify it. And it’s a cancer,” he said.
