FBI Uncovers Fauci’s Funding of Controversial COVID Research in Wuhan
According to a recently released Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request, a new COVID-19 revelation has surfaced.
Internal FBI communications from April 2020, as detailed in the FOIA, indicated that the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), under the guidance of Dr. Anthony Fauci, had funded gain-of-function research on coronavirus at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
The FOIA highlighted a concerning paragraph in the NIAID grant’s “description,” which has seemingly been removed from the internet. Mentioned in the FOIA, this paragraph described the engineering of a “novel” coronavirus that could infect human cells without leaving any evidence of its lab origins — potentially misleading future researchers in the event of an outbreak.
Judicial Watch released five pages of internal FBI communications on Friday relating to these findings.
Tom Fitton, President of Judicial Watch, commented on the documents, stating, “These documents reveal that the FBI was quick to recognize that Fauci’s agency had funded research which could mask the resulting coronavirus as ‘natural'” as reported by the New York Post.
He further emphasized the need for a thorough criminal investigation into Fauci’s involvement in the gain-of-function research scandal.
In an email exchange on April 23, 2020, under the subject line “Follow up call,” the FBI discussed information regarding the NIAID grant awarded to EcoHealth Alliance for bat coronavirus research at the Wuhan lab. The conversation highlighted potential concerns about the methods used in the research.
Following up on the information, the FBI inquired into the grant in May 2020, ultimately concluding last year that the most probable cause of the COVID-19 pandemic was an accidental lab leak.
FBI Director Christopher Wray stated in March 2023 that “the FBI has, for quite some time now, assessed that the origins of the pandemic are most likely a potential lab incident in Wuhan.”
