Feinstein relinquishes Power of Attorney, holds onto Senate Seat
Senator Dianne Feinstein, a 90-year-old politician from California, has given power of attorney to her daughter, Katherine Feinstein, as she continues to face cognitive decline. The New York Times reported that despite her difficulties, she is refusing to resign from her Senate seat. This comes after an incident where Feinstein struggled with reading prepared remarks and had to be prompted by another senator. Katherine Feinstein has filed two lawsuits on her mother’s behalf, seeking access to her late husband’s estate and assistance with mounting medical bills. The estate includes a beach house that Katherine Feinstein hopes to sell to cover the expenses. Meanwhile, Senator Feinstein has been absent from Capitol Hill due to shingles and requires constant assistance from her aides. Fellow Democrat Representative Ro Khanna has called for her resignation, stating that her struggles are difficult to witness.
