Fetterman proudly displays the Israeli flag to ceasefire supporters

Sen. John Fetterman, D-Pa., waved an Israeli flag at the boos coming from ceasefire advocates in Washington, adding fuel to the fire from progressive Democrats who have blasted him for his staunch support of Israel.

According to the Washington Examiner, Fetterman was leaving the Russell Senate Office Building Thursday afternoon and walking past ceasefire advocates being arrested by Capitol Police when they spotted him and started booing.

Video posted on X by freelance journalist Yashar Ali shows the protestors chanting and yelling at the senator as he raises a small Israeli flag in response.

p>”What do we want? Ceasefire. When do we want it? Now,” the protestors chanted, while some in the video could be heard crying “Shame!” in Fetterman’s direction.

“You do a disservice to Pennsylvania!” a man shouts in the video as the Democrat walks away.

Fetterman has come under fire from those in his own party for his unwavering support of Israel as it continues to attack Palestinian militant group Hamas in the Gaza Strip for its unprovoked Oct. 7 massacre of more than 1,400 Israelis. Thousands more were wounded and more than 200 remain hostage.

In the aftermath of the devastating attack, Fetterman has said he fully supports Israel “neutralizing the terrorists responsible for this barbarism” and last month scolded his colleagues in Congress for being quick to blame Israel for a rocket explosion at a Gazan hospital. It was ultimately determined that Israel was not responsible and that the blast was the result of a misfired Hamas munition.

“It’s truly disturbing that members of Congress rushed to blame Israel for the hospital tragedy in Gaza,” Fetterman posted on social media. “Who would take the word of a group that just massacred innocent Israeli civilians over our key ally?”

“I will always stand with Israel and look forward to supporting any military, intelligence, or humanitarian aid to get the job done,” he added.

He has also reportedly vowed to keep posters of Israeli hostages taken by Hamas up “until they are safely returned home.”

Protests have swept the U.S. capital in recent weeks, with demonstrators calling for a ceasefire and, in some cases, an end to the “occupation” of Israel.

Rep. Rashida Tlaib, D-Mich., a member of the progressive group of lawmakers known as the Squad, was censured on Tuesday for her antisemitic comments, including her use of the phrase “from the river to the sea,” which some claim refers to the ethnic cleansing of Jews.
