Florida’s Chinese Property Law Not Blocked by Federal Judge
A federal judge has rejected attempts to place a preliminary injunction on a new Florida law that prohibits some Chinese citizens from buying and owning land in the state. The judge stated that the plaintiffs could not demonstrate they could win the case, and argued that the law does not intentionally discriminate against Chinese citizens. The law was supported by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and includes restrictions on property ownership by citizens from China, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, and Venezuela. The plaintiffs argue that the law unfairly targets immigrants.
