Former Campaign Managers Collaborate for New Podcast

Two former campaign managers, one Republican and one Democrat, are coming together for a podcast that aims to foster engagement rather than anger when discussing this year’s White House race, as reported by The Hill on Monday.

Kellyanne Conway, who served as former President Donald Trump’s campaign manager for the 2016 White House campaign, and David Plouffe, who led former President Barack Obama’s 2008 campaign, will host “The Campaign Managers” podcast platform, set to premiere on May 22.

This weekly show promises to include “intense discussions between the hosts and their guests” and, as Conway stated on Twitter, will “explore the intricacies of the 2024 election beyond just the headlines, analyzing the latest campaign strategies, discussing the crucial issues shaping the political landscape, and sharing our firsthand experiences managing the campaigns of presidential candidates who made history.”

Conway mentioned in a statement that she and Plouffe “have been in the room where it happens, standing side by side with exceptional, groundbreaking candidates who defied expectations, won the presidency, and governed.”

Plouffe remarked in a statement about the podcast that while he and Conway may have “strong disagreements on policies and preferred candidates, we both understand what it takes to secure 270 electoral votes.”

Plouffe added: “We believe it is crucial to provide a platform where audiences can gain a comprehensive understanding of the current state of the race and its potential developments, analyzing the situation from the perspective of successful campaign leaders for the White House, rather than just as members of specific political parties.”
