Former Colonel John Mills speaks to Newsmax about the Middle East as China’s “Proxy War”
Retired Col. John Mills told Newsmax on Wednesday that China is taking advantage of American weakness to engage in a proxy war in the Middle East.
Speaking on Newsline about the current pause in fighting in Gaza, Mills said “there’s something much bigger in play here.”
He stated, “This is a proxy war. We have a tanker war on a much broader and bigger scale. China is giving the green light to Iran, the Houthis, and others to attack shipping, emboldening themselves because they see how tied down the United States is.”
Mills expressed concern about the deal that has led to a pause in fighting in Gaza, cautioning that it may not improve the situation in the long term due to lack of robust inspection of aid and the potential for contraband material to aid Hamas.
Additionally, Mills criticized President Joe Biden’s comments that could be construed as hindering Israel’s efforts to combat Hamas, arguing that clarity and resolve are necessary to win the war.
