Former Florida Attorney General Tells Newsmax: Judge Seeks to Increase Trump’s Fines

Judge Juan Merchan, overseeing the trial of former President Donald Trump’s business records in Manhattan, is taking his time to make a decision on whether the gag order was violated. Pam Bondi, former Florida Attorney General, stated on Newsmax that Merchan wants to increase the fines before ruling against Trump.

Bondi expressed her belief that Merchan will rule against Trump, as he has done throughout the case. Merchan has delayed his decision on holding Trump in contempt for violating the gag order. The ruling is expected to be in writing soon, as reported by WNBC in New York City.

Prosecutors allege that Trump breached the gag order by targeting witnesses and others involved in the case at least 10 times. They have requested a $1,000 fine per violation, jail time for Trump, and removal of his posts from Truth Social.

Bondi criticized Merchan for giving more time to the prosecution to speak, while limiting Trump’s defense team’s opportunity to argue against the gag order.

She defended Trump’s right to post about witnesses like Michael Cohen, emphasizing that Cohen is a convicted liar and perjurer. Bondi stated her concerns about the prosecution’s attempt to bias the jury and the involvement of prosecutor Matthew Colangelo.

Bondi highlighted that Trump is being prevented from attending important events due to the trial proceedings. She also promoted NEWSMAX as the fastest-growing cable news channel in America.
