Fox Executives Support Manchin’s Re-Election
According to Federal Election Commission records, executives at Fox Corporation have donated to the reelection campaign of West Virginia Democrat Senator Joe Manchin. The records show that several Fox executives, including CEO of Fox TV Stations John Abernethy, donated thousands of dollars to support Manchin. This is noteworthy as Manchin is one of the few Democrat senators to appear on the Fox network. Political science professor Stan Oklobdzija suggests that these donations may be part of a “buddy network” among wealthy and influential individuals, with the Fox executives viewing Manchin as reliable and wanting to keep him in office. In addition to individual donations, Fox’s political action committee, FOXPAC, reportedly donated $8,500 to Manchin. This marks the first donation from a Fox executive since 2018. Manchin, known as a moderate Democrat, recently attended a No Labels event in New Hampshire, which some see as a potential platform for a third-party bid. A spokesperson for Fox News stated that FOXPAC supports elected officials and candidates from both major parties.
