Frito-Lay has announced a recall of 13-ounce bags of its Lay’s Classic Potato Chips due to concerns that they “may contain undeclared milk,” which poses a “risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions” to consumers, as indicated by the Food and Drug Administration.

“Individuals with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk face the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume the recalled product,” the FDA stated in a notice released on Monday.
The recall impacts bags of chips that were distributed to stores in Oregon and Washington State, according to the FDA.
It is worth noting that these chips have been available for purchase since at least November 3rd. However, there have been no reported allergic reactions related to the issue, according to the FDA.
Furthermore, the agency has provided the affected product’s UPC codes as “28400 and 31041.” The products feature a “guaranteed fresh” date of February 11th, 2025, and will have one of the following manufacturing codes: “6462307xx” or “6463307xx.”
Despite the situation, the FDA reiterated that no allergic reactions have been recorded thus far, and the company confirmed that no other chip flavors are affected, according to the notice.
Consumers who purchased the affected products should reach out to Frito-Lay at 1-800-352-4477.
Overall, this year has seen over 740 food and beverage recalls, more than double the count from 2023 and nearly triple that of 2022.
