Gay Republican seeks to win first New Jersey Senate seat in 50 years




A potential history-making moment in New Jersey as an openly gay candidate may become the state’s first Republican U.S. Senator since 1972. Curtis Bashaw, a hotel owner, secured a significant victory in the Republican primary by defeating Trump-supported candidate Christine Serrano Glassner with 48% to 37% of the vote.
