Georgia DA Concludes Investigation into Trump Case, Verdict Expected by September 1st

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis of Georgia has stated that a decision on whether or not to indict former President Donald Trump for interfering in the 2020 election in the state will be made by September 1. Willis has been investigating Trump’s actions to determine if he committed any crimes to influence the election results. Fulton County Sheriff Patrick Labat has increased security around the courthouse in anticipation of potential backlash to the decision. This would be the third indictment Trump faces this year, following state charges in New York and federal charges in Florida. In the New York case, Trump is accused of falsifying company documents related to a payment made to Stormy Daniels, a porn star, to keep her quiet about an alleged affair. In the federal case, he is indicted on charges related to the handling of classified documents after leaving the White House. Trump has pleaded not guilty in both cases. Efforts by Trump’s legal team to throw out evidence in the Georgia case have been blocked by a judge.
