Georgia Lt. Gov. tells Newsmax: Judge McAfee made a decision by “splitting the baby”
Georgia Lt. Gov. Burt Jones spoke to Newsmax on Monday regarding the judge’s ruling on Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis in the case involving former President Donald Trump’s alleged election interference. Jones described the judge’s ruling as him “splitting the baby.”
Last week, Judge Scott McAfee ruled that Willis can continue prosecuting the case after special prosecutor Nathan Wade stepped down.
During an appearance on “National Report,” Jones expressed his lack of surprise at the judge’s decision, calling the entire situation a circus. He noted that the judge likely found some improprieties that led to his ruling for Willis, Wade, or both to step down from the case.
Jones stated, “It’s unfortunate that this saga must continue, but we will keep pursuing the investigation in the Senate with our committee.” He referred to the Georgia state Senate’s Special Committee on Investigations, currently looking into the allegations against Willis.
He also mentioned that he believes the case against Trump is falling apart and suggested that Willis should recuse herself or resign, though he doubts she will do so.
