Georgia Prosecutor Billed for 2 Meetings at the White House

An anti-corruption special prosecutor hired by Fulton County (Ga.) District Attorney Fani Willis, also the subject of a court filing accusing the pair of being in a romantic relationship, submitted two invoices in 2022 that featured line items for meetings with White House officials.

Nathan Wade submitted expenses of $2,000 for an “interview with DC/White House” on Nov. 18, 2022, and $2,000 for “Travel to Athens; conf with White House Counsel” on May 23, 2022.

Willis hired Wade to help prosecute former President Donald Trump, raising questions about his role and her role with the federal government.

The invoices surfaced as part of a 127-page court filing by attorneys for co-defendant Michael Roman, a former campaign official for Trump, who is accused of racketeering and taking part in the fake electors scheme in Georgia. Roman’s filing calls for Willis, Wade, and the DA’s office to be disqualified from prosecuting the case because of their alleged romantic relationship.

Perhaps more damning, the invoices show a link from Willis’ office to the White House through Wade, despite the fact she has denied coordinating with Special Counsel Jack Smith’s office and has brushed off accusations that her prosecution of Trump is politically motivated.

The House Judiciary Committee launched an investigation into Willis last August, inquiring if she communicated or coordinated with the Justice Department in bringing charges against Trump in Fulton County. The probe also sought whether Willis used federal funds in her state-level probe of Trump and 18 others, four of whom have since reached plea agreements.

Willis charged Trump with 13 felony counts of racketeering in his alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia. Trump and congressional Republicans believe President Joe Biden’s Justice Department has been weaponized against Trump.

Enter Wade’s 16 hours’ worth of meetings with members of the White House and counsel. There is no additional information provided about the nature of those meetings. However, two days before Wade’s interview “with DC/White House” on Nov. 18, he also invoiced for eight hours of “Jan 6 meeting and Atty conf.”

“Why would Wade be meeting with The White House Council? Who is directing the Fani Willis investigation? The White House, the DOJ?” former New York Police Commissioner Bernie Kerik posted on X.

It’s all part of nearly $654,000 that Wade invoiced to Fulton County, funds from which he financed romantic vacations with Willis. That could amount to honest services fraud, kickbacks from a vendor to an employer that is a federal crime.
