Giuliani Criticizes Columbia Protesters as ‘Terribly Misguided Individuals’

Rudy Giuliani criticized protesters at Columbia University, deeming them as “terribly misguided people.”

“Who hates Jews more, Harvard or Columbia?” the former New York City mayor asked during a Tuesday night broadcast on his radio show on 77 WABC.

“[Columbia has] to beat Harvard at something, so I guess they figured they gotta beat them at Jewish hatred,” Giuliani said, referring to the “Gaza Solidarity Encampment” at Columbia that started last week.

Police attempted to clear the encampment last Thursday, leading to the arrest of more than 100 protesters. This action inspired students nationwide to set up similar encampments and caused protesters at Columbia to regroup.

As of Wednesday, approximately 60 tents were present at the Columbia encampment, which remained calm despite increased security measures around the campus.

During his radio show, Giuliani also criticized Columbia President Minouche Shafik for her handling of the crisis, labeling her as a “hateful person” who deserved to be fired.

Shafik had set a Tuesday midnight deadline to resolve the encampment issue, but negotiations were extended as progress was being made, according to a statement from the university. The entire New York GOP congressional delegation and House Speaker Mike Johnson have called for Shafik’s resignation, citing her as a weak and inept leader.

“They cannot even guarantee the safety of Jewish students? They’re expected to run for their lives and stay home from class? It’s maddening,” Johnson expressed. “What we’re seeing on these college campuses across the country is disgusting and unacceptable.”
