Goldfarb: Critical Race Theory Sparks Anti-Semitism on College Campuses
It is widely believed that the recent increase in anti-Semitism on college campuses is a modern manifestation of an age-old hatred.
Undoubtedly, the animosity toward Jews has a deep-rooted history.
However, the current situation also reflects the influence of a more contemporary evil: Critical Race Theory (CRT). The language used by students in violent protests or when tearing down posters of Hamas’s victims reflects the language of racial division and woke ideology, but applied to Jews.
Critical Race Theory simplifies the world into oppressors and oppressed, allowing different groups to fit into either category. In this framework, Jews are currently depicted as oppressors, alleged to be oppressing Palestinians.
Many students critical of Israel and expressing sympathy for Hamas draw upon this language to feel virtuous, justifying extreme actions, such as the kidnapping of grandmothers and the murder of babies.
However, the oppressor/oppressed template is untrue, regardless of the groups involved. Critical Race Theory overlooks any evidence contradicting its worldview, and has been known to misrepresent historical events and prominent figures.
This mindset will inevitably lead to more violence and hatred, impacting people in various industries and fields beyond the Jewish community.
The culture of hatred is being fueled by a global perspective incapable of recognizing love for others and instead only focused on fostering animosity.
The author emphasizes the urgent need to eliminate Critical Race Theory from college campuses to prevent further violence and hatred against Jews, the destruction of Israel, and ultimately the downfall of America itself.
