Governor Burgum dismisses Trump VP rumors as ‘not relevant’ in interview with Newsmax
North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum appeared on Newsmax on Tuesday and addressed rumors about being considered as a potential running mate for former President Donald Trump, dismissing it as mere speculation that is not relevant to the election.
Over the weekend, Trump hosted an annual fundraising event in Palm Beach, Florida, where potential vice presidential candidates, including Burgum, Sen. Marco Rubio, Sen. J.D. Vance, and Sen. Tim Scott, were guests.
When asked on “Wake Up America” if Trump was vetting running mates during the event, Burgum declined to elaborate, emphasizing that the focus should be on ensuring Trump’s victory in November.
Burgum stressed the importance of unity among Republicans, highlighting the differences in policies between Biden and Trump. He also expressed the need for support from independents, especially in swing states.
Regarding speculations about serving as Trump’s running mate, Burgum downplayed the notion, emphasizing the current priority of re-electing Trump and the challenges he faces due to ongoing impeachment proceedings.
