Green Party Candidate Dr. Stein Detained at College Pro-Palestinian Demonstration

During a Gaza war protest at Washington University in St. Louis, police arrested Green Party candidate Jill Stein on Saturday.

According to a tweet from Stein’s campaign, she was arrested alongside campaign manager Jason Call and deputy campaign manager Kelly Merrill-Cayer, among approximately 100 others, mostly Washington University students, at an encampment on the university grounds.

The protest was demanding the university to divest from Boeing, which manufactures munitions used in the ongoing conflict in Gaza. The Stein campaign expressed support for the students’ demands and their peaceful protest on campus.

The university stated that the protest had the potential to become dangerous, leading to the arrest of 100 individuals, including students and employees, who refused to leave after being asked multiple times. Charges included trespassing, resisting arrest, and assault on police officers.

Stein and other protesters were released around 2 a.m. on Sunday, as reported by The Hill.
