Grenell Tells Newsmax: EU Faces Immigration ‘Revolt’

Former Ambassador to Germany Ric Grenell emphasized the importance of observing the political shifts occurring across Europe. He stated during an interview with Newsmax on Monday that these changes signify a “backlash” against progressive and woke ideologies.

In recent parliamentary elections, frustrated Europeans have ousted progressive leaders in favor of conservatives. French President Emmanuel Macron dissolved parliament and called for snap national elections within three weeks.

Grenell, appearing on “Rob Schmitt Tonight”, suggested that the wave of dissent in western Europe may foreshadow a similar movement in the United States. He proposed that disgruntled Americans could vote President Joe Biden out of office in November in favor of a return to Donald Trump’s policies.

“What we’re witnessing in Europe is a rejection of progressive policies. People are realizing that the woke left, when in power, fails to deliver on their promises,” Grenell explained. “There is widespread discontent; economies are suffering. Across Germany, France, and Belgium, a conservative resurgence is taking place. I hope to see a similar shift in our country, but there is work to be done.”

Discussing the rise of the ultra-conservative Alternative for Germany (AfD) party in Germany, Grenell underscored the prevailing sentiment of backlash against progressive ideals in Europe.

He also drew parallels between Europe’s immigration challenges and those faced by the United States, referencing a poll indicating that 62% of Americans support the deportation of undocumented immigrants. Grenell, who may play a significant role in a potential Trump administration, advocated for strict enforcement of immigration laws.
