Haim Saban Criticizes Biden’s Decision to Block Weapons to Israel
President Joe Biden’s decision to pause weapons shipments to Israel if it proceeds with a military operation in the Gaza city of Rafah has faced criticism from a Democratic mega donor who hosted a $4.5 million fundraiser for Biden’s re-election campaign in February.
Israeli American billionaire Haim Saban, the chairman of Univision and CEO of Saban Capital Group, expressed his disapproval in an email to Biden administration aides Steve Ricchetti and Anita Dunn, stating that halting the weapons shipment was “bad, bad, bad” on all fronts and requesting them to advise the president to reconsider.
Saban highlighted in his email that the decision to cease sending munitions to Israel while it combats Iranian-backed Hamas terrorists in the Gaza Strip conveys a negative message to allies in the region. He emphasized the importance of defeating Hamas and criticized the shift in policy as bowing to political pressure rather than doing what is right.
Saban stressed the significant Jewish support for Israel compared to Muslim support for Hamas and urged Biden to rethink his decision. He also mentioned that his fundraiser for Biden in Los Angeles raised $4.5 million ahead of California’s Democrat presidential primary.
