Haley: It’s Still Early in the GOP Nominee Race
Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley stated on Sunday that it is too early to declare anyone the Republican presidential nominee, following the announcement that Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has suspended his campaign, leaving only herself and former president Donald Trump in the race.
In her statement, Haley said, “So far, only one state has voted. Half of its votes went to Donald Trump, and half did not. We’re not a country of coronations. Voters deserve a say in whether we go down the road of Trump and [President Joe] Biden again, or we go down a new conservative road. New Hampshire voters will have their say on Tuesday.”
Haley, a former U.N. ambassador, also reiterated that “when I’m president, I will do everything in my power to show them they made the right decision.”
She also wished DeSantis well and praised him in her statement, saying “he has been a good governor.”
