Half the Viewers Tuned in to Trump-less Debate in 2015
The first Republican primary debate had significantly fewer viewers compared to former President Donald Trump’s first GOP debate appearance in 2015. Approximately 12.8 million people watched the debate, which was only slightly more than half of the 24 million viewers that Trump had in his first debate. In another GOP candidates debate in 2016 that Trump skipped, 12.5 million people watched. On social media, a tweet of Tucker Carlson’s interview show with Trump had 236.7 million views, counting every time someone scrolled past it. Public interaction numbers included 55,000 comments and 200,000 people liking the interview.
