Hamas ‘Eradication’ Urgently Advocated by Sen. Blackburn in New York Post Column

Tennessee Republican Sen. Marsha Blackburn said in an opinion column in the New York Post Wednesday that the best way to help Palestinians in Gaza is to “eradicate” the terrorist group Hamas, and not by passing President Joe Biden’s request for $9 billion in aid to the Gaza Strip.

“The best way to provide humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people is to eradicate Hamas,” Blackburn wrote. “Yet the United States is once again poised to enable terrorism against our greatest ally in the Middle East.”

She said that the $9 billion in aid proposed by Biden for the Palestinian people will only end up in the hands of the terrorist organization that launched a brutal coordinated attack on Israel Oct. 7, killing more than 1,400 Israelis and others, and kidnapped around 200 more to act as hostages in Gaza.

“Much of the money funneled to the region through the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East and other ‘humanitarian’ organizations will prop up Hamas terrorists, she wrote. “The United States has sent well over $6 billion to UNRWA since its creation. Biden has directed $1 billion alone to the agency since he took office. Hamas is a direct beneficiary of this aid.”

The terror group has long used UNRWA facilities — even schools — to “stash weapons” it then uses to attack Israel.

“Just last week, Hamas stole 24,000 liters of gasoline from UNRWA, which the agency immediately tried to cover up,” she said. “Hamas, of course, is not using this fuel to provide fresh water its people desperately need or power hospitals for civilians. Instead, Hamas will almost certainly use the fuel to power its vast network of underground tunnels to avoid detection by Israeli forces.”

CNN reported last week that Biden is asking Congress to approve $105 billion in aid that would go to Ukraine, Israel, and Gaza, designed to provide additional training, equipment and weapons to assist Ukraine in its war with Russia, and “provide security support” for Israel to defend itself from Hamas and deal with the release of the hostages, as well as provide humanitarian aid to both Gaza and Israel.

Of the total, $61.4 billion would go to Ukraine, $14.3 billion would go to military aid for Israel, and $10 billion would go to both Israel and Gaza in humanitarian aid, the report said.
