Sheila Nix, chief of staff for Vice President Kamala Harris, recently claimed that Harris conducted a “pretty flawless campaign,” despite losing all swing states and becoming the first Democrat in two decades to lose the popular vote.

“I believe the vice president was the standout candidate on our side. She had served as vice president for 3 ½ years, participated in the campaign, and was prepared to take the lead,” Nix said.

“We had many tasks to tackle immediately. Securing the delegates was crucial to ensure her nomination. We needed to pivot the convention towards her instead of President Biden. It required merging teams, and we only had 107 days of campaigning ahead of us. So, swift action was essential,” she elaborated.

“I would argue she ran a remarkably effective campaign, successfully completing all the necessary steps. Although we didn’t win, I believe we accomplished our objectives,” Nix added.

On another note, some Democrats have started to express discontent regarding the Harris campaign’s spending of over $1 billion in donor funds, with revelations surfacing post-election that internal polling indicated Harris was significantly behind, contrasting with media polls suggesting a competitive race against Trump.

Furthermore, reports indicate that the campaign is currently facing approximately $20 million in debt, a claim that the Democratic National Committee has refuted.

“They’re understandably furious now, and the harm inflicted by the 2024 campaign on the Democratic brand is beyond comprehension,” veteran Democratic strategist James Carville commented.

“Without full transparency, it’s estimated the campaign raised about $1.5 billion. Last we heard, Future Forward was around $900 million, which suggests they may have crossed the billion mark before the election,” Carville remarked. “That totals to two and a half billion dollars.”

“Does anyone have an idea where all that money went? I have some ideas on where to start looking,” he added.

Additionally, the Harris campaign is reportedly facing backlash from some staffers of color who allege they experienced “outright racial discrimination” during the campaign, according to a report from the New York Times.

“After Ms. Harris’ defeat, Black campaign employees arranged a call with political strategist Angela Rye to discuss career prospects. Their conversation soon turned to their grievances regarding the campaign’s treatment of them and how poorly funded and disorganized their field efforts had been in essential battleground states,” the New York Times reported.

According to an internal survey, “Black staff members were frustrated with campaign executives and felt their input was overlooked significantly more than that of their [White] counterparts.”

“Some reported explicit racial discrimination, and the campaign’s leaders were informed of the survey findings,” the article continued.
