Vice President Kamala Harris has unexpectedly scrapped her travel plans to Los Angeles for the holidays, choosing instead to remain in the U.S. Capitol, raising concerns about the potential decline in President Joe Biden’s health.

Before the cancellation, Harris was set to land at Los Angeles International Airport at 11:35 p.m. on Thursday, per the White House schedule.
This change in plans follows recent reports indicating that President Biden had also canceled his holiday trip to Delaware, deciding to stay at the White House, which has sparked additional speculation regarding his well-being.
Furthermore, the unexpected holiday cancellations of both leaders coincide with a revealing Wall Street Journal investigative report detailing President Biden’s frailty throughout his time in office.
This report illustrated how Biden’s advisors have taken on tasks typically handled by the president, as his aides were advised to cancel meetings on his so-called “bad days.”
Additionally, Biden’s team has enlisted the help of a professional voice coach to assist him in strengthening his voice, which has been described as increasingly “elderly” sounding.
Meanwhile, Harris’s staff has provided no rationale for her sudden cancellation, leading many on social media to speculate whether the impending government shutdown—following multiple failed resolution bills—might be a factor, as her absence from the Capitol while Congress debates would not look favorable.
The initial 1,547-page continuing resolution (CR) proposed considerable excessive spending, but was rejected after intervention from DOGE leader Elon Musk and President-elect Donald Trump, alongside other GOP figures. Afterward, Congress attempted to introduce a revised bill that was significantly shorter than its predecessor.
However, 38 Republicans voted against it, citing insufficient time to review the bill, which had been presented at the last moment. Others objected that the proposal would lead to an increase in the national debt by $5 trillion. Ultimately, this effort failed during a vote on Thursday evening, with only two Democrats supporting it, leading to chaos as the House worked to avert a government shutdown.
In the meantime, President Biden has generally maintained a low profile during this period, with the White House issuing a vague statement: “President Biden supports the bipartisan agreement to keep the government open, aid communities recovering from disasters, and lower costs.”
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has also warned that a smooth power transition would be hampered if Republicans persisted in “threatening a shutdown,” placing the blame squarely on the GOP.
“The choice to allow a transition to move forward is in the hands of Republicans in Congress. We can continue to have this smooth transition of power if they stop threatening a shutdown,” she asserted.
