Harris Unveils Strategy for Facing off Against Trump’s Vice Presidential Candidate

Vice President Kamala Harris revealed her debate strategy to take on the eventual running mate of former President Donald Trump in 2024, as reported by the Washington Examiner.

In a discussion with Politico, Harris downplayed the significance of any candidate from Trump’s list, stating her intention to treat them all as extensions of Trump rather than individuals to distinguish between.

“We know that Donald Trump is looking for someone who will enable him, not act as a governing partner like Mike Pence. The key question is, will they prioritize loyalty to Trump over country, their oath of office, or the American people?” Harris remarked.

Harris highlighted the shared stance of all potential Trump vice-presidential candidates on abortion, pointing out their support for bans and restrictive measures.

“Every person on that list has either pushed for a Trump-backed abortion ban in their state or endorsed a national ban. Many of them recently voted against contraception rights in the Senate as well,” she noted.

The Democrats’ strategy, according to Harris, involves presenting Trump and his running mate as synonymous figures, in an effort to counter any potential softening of Trump’s image.

Harris specifically called out Rep. Byron Donalds, R-Fla., for his controversial comments about black families during the Jim Crow period.

Expressing disbelief, Harris criticized Donalds for attempting to rewrite history and erase the realities of the past.

In anticipation of a debate with her counterpart, Harris stated her readiness to make her case, regardless of who Trump eventually selects.

The previous vice-presidential debate in October 2020, between Harris and Mike Pence, was characterized by a more traditional style of political discourse, marked by respectful arguments and substantive discussions, in contrast to the presidential debates’ contentious nature.

Trump’s reported shortlist for his 2024 running mate includes a range of politicians, such as Sen. Tim Scott, Sen. J.D. Vance, Sen. Marco Rubio, Rep. Elise Stefanik, Gov. Doug Burgum, and Ben Carson.
