Harvard President’s ‘Tone-Deafness’ Shocks Al Gore
Former Vice President Al Gore criticized the congressional testimony of Claudine Gay, president of Harvard University on Sunday.
During the hearing on Tuesday, Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., questioned Gay about Harvard’s code of conduct policy regarding antisemitism. Gay responded that antisemitic rhetoric that amounts to bullying or harassment is actionable conduct and the university takes action.
Displeased with the responses, Stefanik proclaimed that the “context” of antisemitism doesn’t matter.
Gore, during a Sunday appearance on CNN’s “State of the Union,” said that he was shocked by the comments and emphasized the need for respect in the country and standing against such statements.
On Thursday, Gay appeared in an article in Harvard’s campus newspaper, assuring students she felt regret and that “words matter.”
