The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation has revealed the early release of an illegal immigrant who was convicted of murdering two young Americans in a drunk driving incident, now set to be released six years sooner than expected.

This decision has sparked significant backlash and prompted border czar Tom Homan to take a stand.
“It’s appalling. Two promising American lives were taken for no reason, and this illegal immigrant, who has already faced deportation twice, is being released again? For what purpose? Even if he is deported, he is likely to return,” expressed Anatoly Varfolomeeva, father of one of the victims, Anya (Anna) Varfolomeeva.
19-year-old Varfolomeeva tragically lost her life in a horrific car accident in Orange County, California, in 2021, along with her boyfriend, Nicholay Osokin.
At the time of the incident, Oscar Eduardo Ortega-Anguiano, a 43-year-old illegal immigrant from Mexico, was driving under the influence at almost 100 miles per hour.
Ortega-Anguiano was sentenced in 2022 to ten years for two counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
Despite this ten-year sentence, California authorities have scheduled his release on parole, meaning he will only have served about a third of his time.
Following the news, Homan expressed his intention to be present for the release, planning to direct ICE agents to detain Ortega-Anguiano as he exits the correctional facility.
“I will collaborate with Secretary Noem on this matter; I assure you, if they fail to respect the detainer, we will have ICE agents ready to take him into custody and deport him,” Homan confirmed on Wednesday.
“He has previously been deported multiple times, which classifies him as a felon. Re-entering the country post-deportation is a felony. We will charge him and ensure his deportation,” Homan added.
ICE reported that Ortega-Anguiano has a history of numerous other convictions, including burglary in 2005, vehicle theft in 2007, and battery with kidnapping in 2014.
“People often wonder why I display such emotion on television or during testimonies. I’ve interacted with countless angel moms and dads and know their painful stories. I will never forget those tales. It’s an immense tragedy,” Homan shared.
